Review: The Beloved Agfa Vista 200 and a Giveaway

It almost seems silly writing this article. As of today (October 15, 2018) Agfa Vista is discontinued. I say “as of today” because I always hold hope that cult classics like this will come back. When I think about Agfa Vista, I see rainbows and saturated color. It was a consumer stock - which usually doesn’t receive a ton of respect. But I think it’s safe to say that many people loved (still love) it and miss it dearly.

Add extra light! Light, light, light! Have some fun and add some intentional leaks to your film when you’re done shooting. You can read about how I add light leaks to my photos here. It will just saturate your images with more rainbow goodness.

Agfa vista comes to life in the sun. Feed it light and you’ll never be disappointed. I sound like a broken record, I know. But it doesn’t perform that well indoors. I’m not one to tell you how not to shoot, because experimenting is the best part about film. But. If you like to set yourself up for success and good results, I’d suggest not shooting it indoors. Like I said above…it craves the light. Feed it light!

Green, blue, purple, yellow…despite what you may have heard on the street, Agfa Vista 200 handles colors well. Very well. Landscapes or portraits. It really is (er, was) an amazing film stock. Basically, just shoot colorful things in great light and you’ll love your images.

And now for the giveaway… I got my hands on a a handful of rolls that I want to share with you! I’m giving two people one roll of film each (only US addresses, please). Head over to Instagram to find out how to enter to win. (Closes Thursday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. Central - winner will be announced on Instagram).
